Our Privacy Policy

Advance Aid is committed to safeguarding your privacy online. We do not collect personally identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary.

We use any information we collect about you to help us understand more about how our site is used and to be able to send you communications about Advance Aid that may be of interest to you, either electronically or otherwise. The ‘personally identifiable information’ is information that enables us to identify you, such as your email address, name, title, phone number and address.

Please read the following policy to understand how your personal information will be treated. This policy may change from time to time so please check back periodically.

1. What information does Advance Aid collect from me?
Cookies
Advance Aid may collect information on how users access the Website by using a tracking ID unique to each user through the use of cookies. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user. You may set your browser’s preferences to block the storage of cookies.

Log files
In common with most websites, Advance Aid uses web server log files to collect aggregate information about visitor behaviour. This includes IP addresses, browser type, operating system, screen size, referring pages, search terms, pages visited and documents downloaded. This information is only stored in aggregate and is not linked to personally identifiable information.

How we use the information
Advance Aid uses data collected from log files for internal analysis of user behaviour and trends, to evaluate traffic flow (e.g. busiest times of day/week) and to assess the relative popularity of different parts of the website. We use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful to visitors. We do not share individual data with third parties. We do not track user behaviour after you have left our site.

Names, email addresses and phone numbers
We sometimes ask you for an email address. This may be:
- to send you news and information on Advance Aid’s work and campaigns in the form of an email newsletter (only available by specific request);
- to follow up any request for technical information, so as to measure the effectiveness of that information;
- to follow up a feedback form, in order to get a better picture of our audience’s needs.

If you sign up for an email newsletter, the name, email address and phone number you supply will only be used to send you information on Advance Aid’s work.

2. Who is collecting your information?
When you are on the Advance Aid website and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with Advance Aid alone unless stated otherwise. For example, when you are using our secure online donation pages you are going through to a partner company, Just Giving, and it is clear on the donation page when you are going through to the Just Giving site.

4. With whom does Advance Aid share your information?
Advance Aid will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information, except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. Advance Aid does not sell, rent or share user information with anyone. When you are using our secure online donation pages on Just Giving you are going through to a partner company and the information you give such as your credit card number and contact information is provided so that the transaction can take place. Just Giving has its own Privacy Policy.

5. What is Advance Aid’s policy on allowing me to update, correct, or delete my personally identifiable information?
The accuracy of your individual identifying information is important to Advance Aid. If you want to Unsubscribe to our email newsletter, you can click on the link at the bottom of each newsletter, or you can email unsubscribe@advanceaid.org. If you change email address, or any of the other information we hold is inaccurate or out of date, please email us at changes@advanceaid.org, or write to Head of Communications, Advance Aid, 102 Pembroke Road, London N10 2JB with the details.

6. How does Advance Aid protect my personal identifiable information?

When you give Advance Aid personal information that information may be stored and processed outside of the UK and we take steps to ensure that your information is treated securely.

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
