ANGLO AMERICAN GROUP FOUNDATION MAKES £50,000 GRANT TO ADVANCE AID
LONDON – January 21, 2011 – Advance Aid is delighted to announce that Anglo American Group Foundation has given it a grant of £50,000. The money will go towards Advance Aid’s development programme.
“We were delighted that we had the opportunity to present our case to the Foundation,” says Howard Sharman, senior consultant at Advance Aid, “and especially pleased that they have seen fit to help us with the development of the charity. Job creation in Africa and, where necessary, enterprise development are key parts of Advance Aid’s mission and this is also a key area for the Foundation. Overall, we are aiming to build a stockpile of 90,000 Emergency Kits in strategically located warehouses across Africa and this grant will help us with that mission.”
“The proposal from Advance Aid was an unusual but exciting one and we are delighted to be able to support them at such a formative stage of their development. We are extremely keen on fostering enterprise development and local procurement and very much look forward to seeing the benefits Advance Aid’s plans will bring to local communities,” says Anji Hunter, Chairman of the Anglo American Group Foundation.
Other international charities supported by the Foundation include CARE International, Plan International, Leonard Cheshire Disability, Children of the Andes, Sightsavers, Pro Mujer, Engineers without Borders, World Vision and the Royal Academy of Engineering.
